Welcome to Singapore

Welcome to Singapore… That is the first thing I heard when we landed in Singapore. Cabin crew always say that. Nevertheless when you fly to a place like Singapore that Welcome to Singapore can have a total different meaning… and feeling. More if you are a western 🙂 .
First of all I was lucky to fly with Singapore Airlines. Probably one of the most famous and prestigious airlines in Asia. Very comfortable airplane and great cabin service, even if you fly in economy class (and no, it was not the famous Airbus A380, by the way, Singapore Airlines was the first to fly commercial one of these impressive flying heavy metals). Not to mention aside how cute and well-dressed are the flight attendants with their famous Pierre Balmain-design uniforms. Very chic you would say.
Then you leave the airplane just to be inside one of the best (in terms of infrastructure, technology and service quality) and busiest airports in the world. What an amazing and expedite experience is to walk thru its spacious and modern halls and terminals. I have to admit I felt a little bit of sadness and envy when compare it to my little country airport (it turns out that Costa Rica is bigger than Singapore). But we could find a flaw… Wi-Fi service is available, and “free”, but difficult and complicated to connect to it.
Afterwards, took a taxi to my hotel. Good news, everyone speak some sort of English 😀 . On the way to the hotel I saw good roads and highways. Clean spaces and a lot of green areas and parks; all kind of public transportation, and what is interesting is what Wikipedia told me: Singapore has one of the most cost-efficient public transport networks in the world… No shit!! I am no expert on that, but it seems pretty good to me now!
But there is something that is undeniable: what a beautiful country Costa Rica is!!… And its people! 😀 :

Me and my friends at Super Tree Groove @Gardens by the Bay
From there, things can just get better right? Right!! 10 days after my arrival to Singapore, one of my very best friends from Costa Rica came to visit with his wife. He lives now in Manila, Philippines. So he is now a foreigner. Just like me!
Good times we had. I expected no less from him. Food and ale we enjoyed at great places with astonishing views of Marina Bay and Marina Bay Sands hotel. Breathtaking are the views of the great ports and ships all over the coast and sea.
Also we had a lovely evening at Gardens by the Bay. It’s “a must” place to visit. So much nature… and the Super Tree Groove!!! Makes you feel like you’re in the movie Avatar.
Also we had a quick tour at Sentosa Island, also a very nice place to stay and enjoy beach, sun, food and drinks. But beware… this place can be a tourist trap if not careful 😉 . For the beach, refer to the “undeniable” place. 😀 .
From Singapore with love.
The impressed Foreigner.
